Fundraising  Bake Sale

Listen to our Podcast1 and Podcast2.

Learn about Dannie's story and the impact of childhood cancer diagnosis on a family.

We hold our bake sale to raise funds towards the vital work that we do in supporting the holistic wellbeing of our children diagnosed with brain tumours, other cancers and their families.

This is because childhood cancer impacts the whole family.  About 1 in 4 families will loose more than 40% of their household income due to childhood cancer treatment-related work disruption.  1 in 3 other families will face other work disruptions such as having to quit work or change jobs.  This is true in all our families.

The siblings of children with cancer are also at risk of developing emotional and behavioural issues, such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic-stress disorder due to the secondary stress of caring for or living with a sibling with cancer.  The symptoms of this post-traumatic stress disorder is well documented in parents whose children have completed cancer treatment.  If unaddressed, theses symptoms can result in longer term trauma.  The incidence of many cancers can be prevented by changing behaviour or treating them effectively by EARLY screening and detection.  For children and young people, prevention may not be possible as some childhood cancers begin developing before the child is even born.

Please stop and consider the emotional, practical and spiritual wellbeing impact of a cancer diagnosis in a child or young person and on their family.  Click our 'GoFundMe' link if you are able to donate.  Thank you.

What We Do

We are the first childhood cancer support charity in Hillingdon.

Childhood cancer impacts the whole family.    Therefore, we support child AND their family.

If 500 people donated £1 each, it would help us buy up to 17 beautiful floral bouquets to reach more homes and bring joy to our child AND the family around them.

If 250 people donated £1 each, it would pay for 1year's worth of postage stamps to send birthday and milestone cards to our children, their and parents annually!!

Everyone enjoys an occasional baked treat

That means we can bring our community together, through this shared experience.  Our bake sale is another opportunity to fundraise and raise awareness of the holistic wellbeing impact of cancer in children and the families around them.

Cancer affects at least 1,800 children every year in the UK.  According to statistics, this is a ratio of about 1:500 children developing cancer between the ages of 0 and 14years.

Together we can support them.

Yes, I Want To Donate

Post the COVID-19 pandemic, there is greater awareness of the existing gaps and inequalities in the access to, experience of and outcomes of better holistic wellbeing support for our children with cancer and their families.

This is Why We Do, What We Do.  We work collaboratively with the NHS, local & national government, Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise organisations to offer improved holistic wellbeing (emotional, practical & spiritual) support services that bridge the support gaps in the palliative care system and ensure our Children and Young People diagnosed with brain tumours, other cancers and their families experience better outcomes.

We are committed to bridging this support gap.  Support us today and click 'GoFundMe' below to donate towards our cause.

Together we can reach more children and their families

Thinking about childhood cancer is difficult.

However, offering support in the period of a cancer diagnosis or the point following the passing of a child, can be the difference between isolation and a sense of social connectedness.

Supporting children and family carers through clinic appointments, language translation, counselling, understanding Advance Care Plans, offering wellbeing gift boxes at milestone points or navigating the SEND pathway is ultra important.

Your support will help us improve access to the right services, by the right people at the right time for our children and the families that care for them and know them best.

We support our Cherry Blossoms (bereaved) Families

...because a terminal cancer diagnosis in a child is impossible to wrap your head around.  When the worst happens, time seems to stand still for everyone connected to that child.

The grieving process starts from the point of diagnosis and many parents and siblings will struggle to come to terms with this terrible this reality.  We need your support.  Click to learn more.

Cherry Blossom Support

Isolation starts at the point of diagnosis.  Many parents/families begin to withdraw due to the pressure of care and learning to adjust to their circumstances.  Isolation can lead to a toxic combination of low self-esteem, hostility, stress, pessimism and social anxiety - ultimately leading the isolated person to distance themselves further from others.
