Change starts with you
We joined the national campaign again, to raise awareness of the holistic wellbeing needs faced by Children & Young People diagnosed with cancer and their families. Thank you to our clients, friends, sponsors and partners across the Healthcare, Voluntary, Community, Social and Enterprise (VCSE) sectors in the community who joined us to raise awareness of this important cause. Why Your Support Is Important
Everyday, many of our families are struggling with feelings of isolation. They struggle to meet day to day needs as they juggle with the priorities of caring for their child with cancer.
Many children, parents and siblings struggle under the sheer emotional and psychological shock of a cancer diagnosis and the harsh invasive procedures that are needed in a very short period of time. With feelings of anxiety, depression, fear, grief, social anxiety, separation anxiety, panic and it becomes more impossible to successfully balance and juggle routine work-life priorities against urgent care needs, multiple oncology clinics, hospital scans, administering medication, other sibling needs, school, family and friends. We cannot ignore this.
Please write to your MP to request more funding to provide our children and their families with access to structured wellbeing support after diagnosis. Please click here to read about some of the specialist services we offer.

Thank you to all the children, parents, friends and volunteers from various community groups and agencies across our community who joined us on Saturday, 28 September 2024 to make our CCAM family fun day a success.
We loved the high energy, children playing, laughter, fun games and discussions that centred on the purpose of the fun day. Together we saw over 350 people through our doors.
We raised £4640.01 with special thanks to our sponsors and friends at The Directory Guys and KnockMoy Consultancy. We need your help to raise more funds to support our children and their families.
Join us next year when we do it again and reach our goal of £10,000.
Thank you Hillingdon Hospital Radio, the Mayor's Chosen Charity 2024/25 for broadcasting live from the roadshow at our #DLFCCAM2024 family fun day.
Thank you Cllr Colleen Sullivan and Cllr Scott Farley, for making our CCAM family fun day a success. Thank you Hillingdon Vision for sponsoring our photography and videography.
We use Dannie's story to inform and educate our community on the inequalities and gaps that exist in the access to, outcomes and experience of holistic wellbeing support in children and young people with cancer and their families.
Join us next year and help us reach our goal of £10,000.
No one wants to think about childhood cancer. The thought of a child suffering is difficult. The thought of a child with long term illness is hard. The thought of a child diagnosed with cancer is unbearable and we often retreat for emotional safety just at the thought. Yet this is the reality for 10 children per week in the UK. 1 in 3 of whom will be diagnosed with a brain tumour. Not every childhood cancer diagnosis is terminal but, life will change permanently and often irreversibly for 100% of every diagnosis.
Children will experience changes in their diet, sleeping patterns, speech and language, learning ability, speech and language processes, memory and recall processes, confidence levels, emotional and behavioural changes. The list is long. Imagine the challenges their parents and siblings must face.
Our family fun day helps us draw our community together. We use
Dannie's story to inform and educate our community on the difficulties our children face through diagnosis and care.
Please join us next year and help us reach our goal of £10,000.

Thank you London Fire Brigade - Hayes
We would like to thank the wonderful Blue watch team of our local London Fire brigade. We were delighted you could make the event and stay as long as you did!
Again, no one wants to think about childhood cancer. We recognise that the thought of a child suffering is difficult, the thought of a child with long term illness and the thought of a child diagnosed with cancer is unbearable.
Children with cancer are first children before anything else. Therefore, it was great to see some of our brave firemen walking around our event ground and speaking to various children and families. Thankfully, not every childhood cancer diagnosis is terminal but, life will change permanently and often irreversibly for 100% of every diagnosis.
However, a childhood cancer diagnosis impact the whole family - the child, their parents, siblings, friends, teachers, medical team and more. Our family fun day helps us draw our community together because sadly, this connects us all and cuts across every child service in our community and local authority.
Please join us next year and help us reach our goal of £10,000.
Please don't look away.
Our children and young people need your support now
More action is required to improve the wellbeing support available to our children. A child diagnosed with cancer requires complex wellbeing and social care support that should be prioritised for alongside medical care, to ensure their holistic needs are addressed whilst receiving care. Through ring-fenced local and national government funding, this is achievable.
The priorities of emotional, mental and psychological self care, sibling care, and other needs quickly fall away in this fast-paced environment become low in priority. Sleep, rest, diet, nutrition, lifestyle, emotional wellbeing increase in low priority and in the medium to long term, changes start to show. Without support, family relationships and friendships start to strain and eventually break apart under the pressure of new and complex wellbeing changes.
